The name ThirdPlace comes from sociologist Ray Oldenburg. He writes: “Though a radically different kind of setting for a home, the third place is remarkably similar to a good home in the psychological comfort and support that it extends…They are the heart of a community’s social vitality, the grassroots of democracy, but sadly, they constitute a diminishing aspect of the American social landscape.”

Located in State College Pennsylvania, ThirdPlace is a group of grad students, young professionals, and 20/30-somethings that is looking to live out the concept of authentic community. We recognize the value of a venue that will provide opportunities for deep relationships, social support, spiritual growth, and tons of fun!
