Located in State College Pennsylvania, ThirdPlace is a group of grad students, young professionals, and 20/30-somethings that is looking to live out the concept of authentic community. We recognize the value of a venue that will provide opportunities for deep relationships, social support, spiritual growth, and tons of fun! We desire for our community to be a place where people are easily welcomed in and have opportunities to build true relationships with one another.

The name ThirdPlace comes from sociologist Ray Oldenburg.  He writes:
“Though a radically different kind of setting for a home, the third place is remarkably similar to a good home in the psychological comfort and support that it extends…They are the heart of a community’s social vitality, the grassroots of democracy, but sadly, they constitute a diminishing aspect of the American social landscape.”

ThirdPlace hosts regular activities where anyone can come and connect. It is also our desire to be agents of change, so we provide regular opportunities to serve and events that help us to engage with concepts of social justice.
